The Oyo/Osun Customs Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service is ramping up collaboration with key stakeholders within it’s area operation to drive revenue growth and promote legitimate trade.
The ever committed Acting Customs Area Controller, DC Wale Moses Adewole, in a bit to seel the ongoing partnership, led a delegation to British American Tobacco Nigeria (BATN) and the Alaafin of Oyo’s palace, emphasizing the importance of such partnership in achieving these goals.
At BATN, the CAC who was warmly received by the Director of Operation, Mr. Hasnain Ishtiaq, commended the company’s significant contribution to revenue through excise duties and pledged continued support for effective revenue collection. He highlighted the command’s commitment to facilitating legitimate trade and protecting the nation’s borders. BATN’s Director of Operations, Hasnain Ishtiaq, assured the command of the company’s commitment to compliance and cooperation, recognizing the Customs’ role in promoting economic development.
In a press statement issued by the command as signed the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Akintola Abdulmalik, an it says that the Assistant Superintendent of Customs, ASC on behalf of the the CAC, says the visit to the Alaafin of Oyo’s palace aimed to solicit for the monarch’s support in sensitizing the community on the dangers of smuggling and promoting lawful economic activities.
On his own , the Alaafin pledged the palace’s backing, recognizing the Customs’ efforts in safeguarding the nation’s economy.
Meanwhile, DC Adewole reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with stakeholders, traditional institutions, and the public to enhance revenue generation, promote legitimate trade, and support Nigeria’s economic prosperity. The command’s initiatives are expected to boost revenue collection and facilitate trade, contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
