The Oyo/OSUN command of the Nigeria Customs Service has made seizures worth Two Billion, Five Hundred and Thirty-One Million, Ninety-One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-Six Naira Only. The Acting Customs Area Controller of the command, Deputy Comptroller WM ADEWOLE equally said that the command on revenue generation, netted a total sum of Fourteen Billion, Seven Hundred and Forty-Five Million, Seven Hundred and Forty-One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Six Naira, Five Kobo (₦14,745,741,806.05K) within the period under review
This was what the acting Controller said while speaking to journalists at the event, he said:
“This briefing is to update you on the Command’s operations, particularly in the areas of anti-smuggling enforcement and revenue generation. Within the period under review, the Command has intensified its surveillance and enforcement strategies across all areas of responsibility. These efforts have yielded significant results in the interception of prohibited and smuggled goods in line with the provisions of Section 245 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.4. In accordance with our statutory mandate, the Command recorded the following seizures.”
Accirding to press statement which the CAC signed by himself, it added that
“These seizures were made at different locations across Oyo and Osun States through credible intelligence and coordinated patrol operations.
This achievements, according to the command’s statement, reflects our commitment to blocking revenue leakages, ensuring compliance with extant laws, and facilitating legitimate trade.7.
Making a comparison, ADEWOLE with previous seizures, he said:
“This achievement when compared to same period last year 2025 where the Command generated the sum of ₦10.1Billion to this year ₦14.7Billion, the Command was able to make a percentage increase of 46.22%, ” the CAC said.
Speaking sternly against the activities of economic saboutoers (smugglers), the CAC further warned:
“Let me use this is the opportunity to warn smugglers and economic saboteurs that the Oyo/Osun Area Command will not relent in its efforts to curb illegal activities. We are fully committed to enforcing government fiscal policies and protecting the nation’s economy.”
However, the Oy/OSUN Customs boss, while appealing to me general public for their support in fighting these menace, has this to say:
“I also wish to appeal to members of the public to support the Nigeria Customs Service by providing timely and useful information that will aid our operations. Compliance with import and export regulations remains the best approach to avoid sanctions.”
The anti-smuggling wizard (Deputy Comptroller WM ADEWOLE), thefore restated the command’s resolve to fight it out with The smugglers and ensure that smuggling activities is suppressed to least.
“The Command remains resolute in discharging its responsibilities with professionalism, transparency, and integrity,” he warned sternly.
While commending the Comptroller-General of Customs and his management team, the CAC said.
“Finally, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, fnipr, psc (+), PhD and his Management Team for their unwavering support and strategic guidance.”
In another development, the Ag CAC used the opportunity to appreciate the traditional rulers.
“Our appreciation also goes host communities and their traditional rulers across both States for their continuous support in promoting lawful trade and discouraging smuggling within their domains.”
The critical stakeholders and the media, were not left out.
“I commend our critical stakeholders for their collaboration and compliance with extant regulations.
“Most importantly, I thank the gentlemen of the press for your timely and accurate dissemination of information to the public, which has greatly enhanced awareness and compliance,” he conluded.
