The Nigeria Customs Service, Onne Area II Command, has recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue collection, generating over ₦77.3 billion in April 2026.

Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed Alkali, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Command headquarters in Onne, Port Harcourt. He said the milestone reflects the Command’s commitment to revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement of government fiscal policies.

“From January to April 2026, the Command generated a total revenue of ₦258,204,841,355.66,” Alkali stated. “This represents an unprecedented revenue collection in the history of the Command.”

He attributed the feat to the dedication of officers and stronger compliance by stakeholders.

The Command also recorded significant anti-smuggling successes within the same period. In February 2026, officers intercepted a 40-foot container falsely declared as plumbing materials. The container had a Duty Paid Value of ₦185,220,000.00. Examination revealed that the smugglers had altered the original container number and replaced it with a fake one in an attempt to remove it from the port without paying duty.

In a separate operation that same month, the Command intercepted nine 40-foot containers laden with bales of fabrics, building and carpentry tools, cartons of LED lights, solar fans, and garments, among other items. The seizure had a Duty Paid Value of ₦1,251,368,000.00.

According to Alkali, the importers violated Sections 231, 233, and 246 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, through alteration of marks and numbers, document falsification, and attempted smuggling.

“The containers and their contents were detained and subsequently converted to seizures in accordance with the law,” he said.
