NEW LEADERSHIP TAKES HELM AT UNIQUE MARITIME CLUB OF NIGERIA By Ambrose Obioma Okehi (News Emperor)

Members of Unique Maritime Club of Nigeria have elected a new set of executives who will lead the group for the next three years. Among those elected were Chief Iheme Howell Ndukwe, as the President General of the Unique Maritime Club of Nigeria, who in his acceptance speech pledged to consolidate on executive’s achievements.

The group also elected Mr. Uche Emmanuel Ndukwe as the Deputy President General, Emoh Joseph Ifeanyi, who was elected as the Secretary General while Nwaogu Anthony Chinedu serves as the group’s Assistant Secretary General. Meanwhile, they also elected Ikwe Henry to be the Financial Secretary as Ihejiene Onyileisi Frank becomes the Treasurer of the Unique Maritime Club. Others include, Odilo Christopher who emerged as the new image maker of the body; while Neosu Bright Nnamdi and Odilinye Vhijioke Onyekachi were elected as the welfare officer and provost respectively.

According to the President General, who spoke to newsmen in an interview briefly after the election which took place at Rockview Hotel Apapa Lagos, the PG said.
” I am promising you all that as we went into leadership, and I understand from the address of our president general emeritus that there was a divided house. But my promise is that we are going to amend anything that divides us. We are going bring it together and work as a team. And ensure that we forge ahead as a group and achieve our ultimate goal.”

The Chairman Electoral Committee, Dr. Goodluck Onuchi who saw to the free and fair election thanked the members for trusting him with such enormous responsibility. He earlier acknowledged that the experience and wisdom behind what he was saying, were all that he learnt at the National Government Approved Freight forwarders, NAGAFF, saying that he has learned a lot and still learning.

Speaking to newsmen after well conducted election, Dr. Onunju expressed happiness that all went smoothly without any ranchor discrepancies. “Yes, I feel very good and honoured that members of my club gave such honour. And I thank God that everything well well.” On whether he could qualify the election as free and fair, the electoral committee chairman (Dr. Onuchi) said ” yes, the election was free and fair election, conducted in a peaceful environment devoid of ranchor and trouble. Of which everyone was very happy. They all that were present voted and there was even e-voting for those in diaspora and that were not there voted in absentia too. So, it was a very nice election.”

Speaking about the just elected president general, Chief Howell Ndukwe, Dr. Goodluck noted that he (Chief Ndukwe) served as under the past executives led by High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel EZISI, the current National President of NAGAFF and the Mayor of Amowudofi. Dr. Goodluck also acknowledged that the executive of High Chief EZISI’S worked together as a team. They did not experience any trouble of any kind throughout their tenure,” he said. He further added that the incoming PG, having worked under the past executive, has gained much to perform. “He has learned a lot from the president emeritus, who is High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi.

Later on, Chief Isaac Chilaka Ndukwe, one of the pioneer members of the Club who also spoke to the newsmen after the successful election said he has joined the Unique Maritime Club of Nigeria since . “As a matter of fact, I am one of the pioneer members of this very club. We started this club as far back as 2012. I am the pioneer PRO of this club. And I have served two terms as an elected executive member. We have other members who have left the club too. People like Chief David Kanekwu. He was our pioneer Board of Trustees, BOT Chairman.somebody like late Chief Cletus Nwabueze, he was our pioneer President, someone like Chief Philip Nwaeze as our treasurer and many others. He describes the election, as unprecedented , adding that they (the Unique Maritime Club of Nigeria) have not had it like that before. “That is what I am saying, we have not had it like this before. In fact, we thank the entire body in general and the electoral committee in particular for their thorough job,” Chief Isaac Ndukwe noted.
