Without wasting time, the Customs Area Controller, CAC of Sokoto/Zanfara Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Musa Omale PhD, has fully taken off and commenced operational activities in his Command by embarking on a royal and collaborative tour to the neighbouring border communities, royal fathers and government’s agencies within the Customs operational jurisdiction.
The Command’s collaborative move commenced with a synergy tour to some strategic key institutions and community influencers within his operational area as well as the neighbouring Republic of Benin Customs.
This was contained in a press statement made available to newsmen which News Emperor sighted as was signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Tsafe.
In a press statement made available by the command recently, the Command noted that the CAC harped on synergy with Niger Republic Customs and sought for the continuous support of Traditional institutions along border areas.
The CAC, the statement equally said, made the call when he paid a working visit to Illela Border Outstation on the 15th February, 2023.
While embarking on the tour at the border alongside his management top officials, Comptroller Musa Omale, we were hinted, received the Commissiaire Des douanes in charge of Birnin N’konni border, Colonel Muhammad Bashir and the paramount ruler of N’kwanni his Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Salifu Sardauna, Sarkin Birnin N’kwanni at the Illela Border Outstation.
Giving more insights on the the collaborative synergy at his visit, the CAC told them that the purpose of the visit was to consolidate on the existing relationship between Nigeria Customs Service and its Nigerien counterpart, reiterating the need for the personnel of both countries to collaborate with each other in trade facilitation and intelligence sharing in order eradicate the issue of banditry and Armed smuggling being experienced within the corridors of both countries.
Recall Comptroller Omale recently took over as the CAC of Sokoto/Zamfara Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
In his speech, the Commissaire Des douane of Birnin N’kwanni Border, Colonel Muhammadu Bashir assured his host of his unflinching support towards Trade facilitation and a safe border.
The Paramount ruler of Birnin N’kwanni in his own response thanked the Comptroller Comptrollers Musa Omale of NCS for the warm reception accorded them, as he assured that he would continue to promote peaceful coexistence between his subjects and Nigerian citizens accross the two borders.
In another Development, Comptroller Musa Omale PhD used the opportunity to exchange views with heads of Government Agencies operating at the border Station in an interactive session, where he solicited their cooperation to enable the Command to discharge its mandate of revenue generation, and smuggling suppression.
The CAC equally paid homage to the District Heads of Sarkin Gobir Na Gwadabawa, Sarkin Rafin Illela and Sarkin Yamman Kware, where he enumarated to the Royal Fathers the need for them to support the Service to enable it to meet up with its mandate of revenue generation mandate, which he said is used for infrastructural development and payment of salary.
However, Comptroller Omale solicited for their support and cooperation, pleading with them to do so by educating their subjects on the dangers of smuggling to the economy.
He therefore requested from them to also warn their subjects on the danger of aiding and abetting smugglers.
The Royal Fathers, while responding to his request, thanked the Area Controller and his entourage for synergising with them through the courtesy visit but finally assured the Command of their total support.
