The Cross River State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress ADC has challenge the purported emergents of Senator David Mark as “a move that mirrors the “dark days” of political imposition” because “the 2018 Constitution of the ADC does not recognize “interim or “Caretaker” structures.

This assertion was made in Calabar by the state Vice Chairman Central/Director, Policy And Strategy of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Cross River State, Dr. MacFarlane Ejah Declare that the 29th July,2025 Chelsea Hotel, Abuja infraction that struck at the heart of ADC corporate existence which purportedly dissolve the democratically elected National Executive Officers of ADC violated the 2018 ADC Constitution and the 2026 Electoral Act.

He also explained to media practitioners in
a press briefing that the emergents of Senator David Mark as National interim Caretaker Committee Chairman, OgbeniRauf
Aregbesola National Secretary,Ms.JakkyWayas as Deputy Publicity Secretary, Usani Uguru Usani National Chairman, South South and 47 others is a fake because the legal imperative of their.claims is not based on Article 18(iandii) and Article 17 (c) of 2018 Constitution of ADC which Declares that “Officers at all levels from Ward to National level must be produced through elective Congresses.

Dr. MacFarlane further narrated that 2026 Electoral Act (section 82(4) clearly states that political parties Must operates through democratically elected organs, and that, ‘there’s no emergency power” in ADC Constitution or a Groups of individuals to bypass the ballot box and appoint members as leaders of the party and the presence of INEC officials at that meeting did grant them any legal life to the meeting.

On the reason they raised the alarm, Dr. MacFarlane argue that “the clock for 2027 elections has started ticking” because if they keep quiet to allow an “invalid nomination” through an illegal leadership to conducts the upcoming Congresses and convention, every candidate they will nominate will be legally flawed” and because we have seen parties in Nigeria lose entire state because their internal process were faulty”, we will not allow the ADC to suffer for a “judicial casualty in 2027”, he added.

End.
