\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a fantastic and harvest-yielding outing for officers and men of the Joint Border Patrol (JBP), Sector 2, South West Zone as they confiscated 6,819 items of various contrabands within just one month (February 1 to February 28, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 6,819 seizures, according to the Coordinator of the Joint Border Patrol, JBP Sector 2, South West Zone, Lagos, Comptroller NM Hassan (fsi), has a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of One Hundred and Seventy-six Million, Four hundred and three thousand (N176,403,000.00) only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intervention and subsequent confiscation of the smuggled items, News Emperor gathered was as a result of the intelligence and vibrancy of these men and officers, yielded bountiful and expected harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seizures within the period under review,, according to the Coordinator, has since been deposited to the Federal Government Warehouse s within the Areas of Responsibility (AOR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While briefing newsmen at a press conference at Seme border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Thursday, the Coordinator, Comptroller NM Hassan said the impounded items include: two thousand, two hundred and ninty-six plastic kegs of 30 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol; three six hundred and four (3,604) bags of 50kg of foreign parboilled rice with 20 means of conveyances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others seizures were Four hundred and ninety-seven (497) parcels of Cannabis Sativa valued at Twenty-seven Million, Three hundred and thirty-five thousand (27,335,000) only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the seized drugs, the JBP Coordinator told journalists at the news briefing that the seized Cannabis Sativa has since been handed over to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The JBP said that: &#8220;However, it is important to state here that since 2019 to date, we have made overwhelming seizures of Petroleum products thus:<br>1,485,000,000 items of PMS; a Yankee truck of loaded with AGO each; a truck loaded with Kerosine; 32,076 kegs of 30 litres of PMS each; 1,757 drums of 200 litres of PMS; and 280,050 litres of PMS evacuated from various filling stations involved in anti- bunkering activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;All have since been auctioned to members of the public at a cumulative amount of Six hundred million, One hindared and seventy-five thousand, Right hundred and fourteen naira, twelve Kobo (600,814.12k)&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commending the gallant officers and men of the JBP, Compteoller Hassan said:<br>&#8220;It is in appreciation of the highly remarkable feats of these dedicated, pragmatic and purposeful officers that we are gathered here today.To congratulate them behalf of the Nigeran Customs Service (NCS) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for their selfless sacrifice and resounding galantary,&#8221; the coordinator stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still eulogising the officers and men of the JBP Sector 2 South West Zone in their galantary operations, Comptroller Hassan added:<br>&#8221; I hope that this gesture will further boost their adrenaline and equally propel other officers and team leaders in the JBP Operations to up their ante to meet up with the exigencies of this onerous assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It is important to reiterate that The Joint Border Patrol (JBP) Operation is a coalition under the umbrella of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). It&#8217;s made up of components from the military, paramilitary and intelligence agencies inclusive of the Army, Navy, Customs, Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the Police Force, State Security and the National Intelligence Service, which all combined to operate under the lead role of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the symbolic relationship among the security agencies, Comptroller Hassan said the invaluable influence of that symbolic relationship between the security agencies to the success of these operations can&#8217;t underestimated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comptroller Hassan while commended the Comptroller General of. Customs (CGC), Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) CFR for his logistics support for the JBP.<br>&#8220;While appreciating Federal Government for the foresight in creating the JBP Operations, I equally thank the Management of the Nigeria Customs Service ably led by the Comptroller General of Customs, Col.
