This is so because of the positive happenings around the command as well as the spectacular performances of the Gidado-led management of the command just within the few months of their being in the saddle which is circled with proven evidences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within this same short period (August to December 2022), the revenue profile of the command has jumped up and soared so tremendously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The MMIA command under Comptroller MM Gidado has left nobody in doubt of its competent with strategic impact which has brought about a friendly, harmonised and cordial working relationship with other Stakeholders at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the month of August, 2022 when Comptroller Gidado was posted to the command till now, he has printed his foot in the sand of history considering the various signs and evidences of improvement as well as recorded positive impacts dotted everywhere for all to see and feel. They can be seen from the ways and manner officers and men of the Command are comporting themselves and carring out their official duties in friendly and orderly decorium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was also reported that the foremost air gateway command of the nation, has continued to witness huge succeses in core areas like revenue collection and trade facilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The coming of Compteoller GIDADO to the command, News Emperor gathered, has signalled positive improvement with an unmistakable performance impetus just because of Gidado’s leadership style which has injected visible transformation at the command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These performance reports were equally contained in a press statement made available recently by the command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs (SC) Juliana Destiny Tomo which News Emperor sighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a further analysis of the Command”s performance, the statement noted that the month of November 2022 was yet another productive month in the annals of Murtala Mohammed International Airport Command, as a whooping sum of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Fifty Nine Million, Four Hundred and Seventy one Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira and Nineteen Kobo (\u20a61,959,471,750.19) only was generated as revenue in November 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a comparative note, the command\u2019s November revenue profile showed a significant increase of \u201cThree Hundred and Fifty Million, Five Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand, Seventy Six Naira and Twenty Four kobo (\u20a6350,535,076.24) only over the N1.6billion collection achieved in the month of October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The slight increase in the revenue generation, News Emperor gathered, has impacted possitively on the Command’s monthly revenue generation profile. For instance, the October 2022 performance review shows that the Command collected a total sum of One Billion, Six Hundred and Eight Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty Six Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy Three Naira and Ninety Five Kobo (#1,608,936,673.95).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meaning that the sum of Nine Hundred and Eighty Two Million, Six Hundred and Forty Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty Naira (#982,645,280.00) was revenue collected from import duty alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CAC, according to the statement, stated that inspite of the COVID 19 pandemic and the subsequent lock down that placed restrictions on travelers and drop in importation coupled with the inflation on exchange rate, that the Command still made a remarkable revenue generation performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Command however, recorded slight low in export of locally manufactured commodities due to what the statement called peculiarity or nature of the Command job as airport terminal to the tune of one million, nine hundred and thirty five thousand, one hundred and sixty nine naira (#1,935,169.00).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thses great achievements, Comptroller Gidado noted, were possible through thoroughness of officers and men of the Command’ as well as the application of due diligence with extant laws as stated in Sections 72 and 145 of the Customs and Excise Management Act CAP C45 Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004 (CEMA CAP C45 LFR 2004).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CAC however promised that his management team at the command shall continue to pursue its core mandates of trade facilitation and collection of revenue as well as suppressing smuggling without fear of favour while making sure that there is efficient and friendlier traveler clearance procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The enforcement mandate of the command, the statement informed, include: Interception of contrabands, examination of travelers and their baggage, cargo and mails; assessment and collection of Customs duty and other statutory taxes on goods and services, as well as protecting businesses against illegal trade malpractices with the application of extant laws such as Sections 150 and 161 of the Customs and Excise Management Act CAP C45 Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004 ( CEMA CAP C45 LFN 2004).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through these, the statement equally noted that Comptroller Malami Gidado management at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command recorded a massive success through \u201cSeamless Clearance Procedure\u201d of passengers\u2019 accompanied and unaccompanied baggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Relying on these numerous achievements so far, the CAC appealed to other sister agencies operating within the MMIA to effectively collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service in ensuring that all avenues of revenue leakage are blockaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He maintained that all voluntary compliance persons (passengers) making use of the airport, as promised since October 2022, would have a good travel experience in the clearance of their shipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CAC, Comptroller Gidado also made it point clear to the public that there has been a positive difference in the integrity of passengers\u2019 declaration of goods in the preceding Month (November 2022) under review at the command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
