Tessy Ngozi Okeze has formally resigned from being an a member of Labour Party.<\/p>\n<p>According to her while speaking to News Emperor, she said She walked into the Labour Party with hope. But now walked out with a lesson.  <\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Tessy Ngozi Okeze, a known voice in grassroots politics, formally resigned her membership of the Labour Party, ending what she described as a \u201cvaluable journey of learning, service, and commitment to the people.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>In a statement released to the press, Okeze said the decision followed months of \u201ccareful observation of the current realities on ground\u201d \u2014 realities she says point to deeper problems within the party.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cChallenges in internal structure, coordination, and the need for a more decisive and people-driven approach to leadership\u201d were key factors, she stated.  <\/p>\n<p>A Journey That Stalled<br \/>\nOkeze, who joined the party with expectations of a new political culture, said she had hoped the Labour Party would represent \u201ctrue change\u201d and a break from Nigeria\u2019s old political patterns.  <\/p>\n<p>Instead, she found herself questioning the direction. \u201cAfter careful observation,\u201d she wrote, \u201cI have made the decision to formally resign my membership.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Her exit is the latest in a string of high-profile departures from the party since the 2023 general elections, as internal wrangling and leadership disputes continue to dog its national and state chapters.  <\/p>\n<p>She said: <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Will Join a Party That Will Give Me Peace\u201d<br \/>\nOkeze made it clear she is not quitting politics but only her current platform.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn line with my vision to serve effectively and align with a platform that reflects my ideals and urgency for true change, I will be joining a party that will give me peace,\u201d she said.  <\/p>\n<p>While she did not name her next political home, the phrase \u201ca party that will give me peace\u201d has already sparked speculation within political circles. Analysts say it signals frustration with the Labour Party\u2019s ongoing internal crises, which have seen factions trade accusations and courts intervene in leadership disputes.  <\/p>\n<p>Gratitude, Not Bitterness<br \/>\nDespite the resignation, Okeze struck a conciliatory tone.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remain grateful for the support and relationships built, and I wish the party continued progress,\u201d she wrote, ending her statement with \u201cThank you.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Her departure leaves questions about the Labour Party\u2019s ability to retain committed grassroots mobilizers who once saw it as the vehicle for a new Nigeria.  <\/p>\n<p>For now, Okeze says she is moving on \u2014 to a platform where her vision for service can be \u201ceffectively\u201d pursued.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mts.
