Members of
\nthe Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA), has petitioned the Lagos State Government over what they called operations and activities of the Lagos State Trucks and Cargo Committee (LASTCOC) which was established by Lagos State Government through the ministry of Transportation.<\/p>\n
They are also demanding an urgent and comprehensive audit of the operations of the committee.<\/p>\n
In a letter dated April 13,2026, addressed the Executive Governor,

\nLagos State, the group titled it REQUEST FOR A COMPREHENSIVE AUDIT OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE LAGOS STATE TRUCKS AND CARGO COMMITTEE (LASTCOC).<\/p>\n
According to them We, the Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA), write to formally bring to your attention serious concerns regarding the operations of the Lagos State Trucks and Cargo Committee (LASTCOC), which was established by the Ministry of Transportation to represent the interests of truckers in Lagos State. <\/p>\n
The letter which was signed by the National President of COMTUA, Comrade Adeyinka Aroyewun, it reads:
\n“Our investigations have revealed alarming irregularities in the activities of LASTCOC, particularly regarding the illegal sale of tickets and revenue collection.”<\/p>\n
The group through their pettition listed the members of the committee while alleging of various extortions by the members of the committee.<\/p>\n
“The committee, headed by the following individuals:
\n1. Alhaji Lookman Shittu
\n2. Adewuyi Adeyanju
\n3. Isiaka Olalere
\n4. Rasaki Igbalaye
\n5. Sanni Bala
\n6. Raji Adeshina
\n7. Hakeem Yusuf
\n8. Omolola Olushola
\n9. Oladimeji Olaseni
\n10. Ghaniu Femisun
\n11. Seyi Moducai
\n12. Musa Shabir
\nhas been involved in the sale of tickets to truckers at a rate of \u20a63,000 per truck. It has been reported that this group has sold tickets to approximately 30,000 trucks on four separate occasions within the last two years,” the group insisted.<\/p>\n
It continues:
\n“Based on our estimation, this activity has generated an estimated sum of three hundred and sixty million naira (\u20a6360,000,000) said to be paid through Rasaki Igbalaye’s

“Despite repeated requests from truckers and their associations, LASTCOC has refused to provide any account or report on the utilisation of these funds. Furthermore, attempts by our member associations to seek transparency and accountability have been consistently obstructed by officials of the Ministry of Transportation. <\/p>\n
The group wanted the government to take decisive action over the allegation.<\/p>\n
“In light of these concerns, we respectfully request the following from your office; a comprehensive audit of the activities of LASTCOC, including its revenue generation, expenditure, and overall operations; a Clarification on the legitimacy of the ticket collection exercise, including the Gazette, appropriation, or legislation authorising such collections; a detailed account of the revenue generated from the sale of tickets and its allocation or utilisation.<\/p>\n
COMTUA however demanded that the Lagos State Government to also come out with official stand on the committee and their operations.<\/p>\n
“The official position of the Lagos State Government on the activities of LASTCOC and its compliance with statutory regulations.”<\/p>\n
While cooying other relevant bodies like
\nthe Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Transportation, Lagos State ; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Lagos State ; the Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Transportation, They said,
\n“We believe that transparency and accountability are essential for the growth and development of the transport sector in Lagos State. The trucking community, which plays a critical role in the state\u2019s economy, deserves to be represented by a committee that operates with integrity and in accordance with the law. <\/p>\n
