{"id":1209,"date":"2026-02-26T18:40:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T18:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsemperormagazines.com.ng\/news\/?p=1209"},"modified":"2026-02-26T18:40:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T18:40:14","slug":"apapa-customs-strengthens-synergy-with-nigerian-navy-by-ambrose-obioma-okehi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsemperormagazines.com.ng\/news\/apapa-customs-strengthens-synergy-with-nigerian-navy-by-ambrose-obioma-okehi\/","title":{"rendered":"APAPA CUSTOMS STRENGTHENS SYNERGY WITH NIGERIAN NAVY   By Ambrose Obioma Okehi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>APAPA CUSTOMS STRENGTHENS SYNERGY WITH NIGERIAN NAVY <\/p>\n<p>The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, to deepen operational collaboration in line with the Three (3) policy thrusts of Consolidation, Collaboration and Innovation of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement issued by the command and signed by the command&#8217;s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, a<br \/>\nChief Superintendent of Customs  for the Customs Area Controller<br \/>\nApapa Area Command.<\/p>\n<p>The CAC who spoke during the event stated that: \u201cThe CGC has Three (3) key policy thrusts. The first is consolidation. On assuming duty, I resolved to consolidate on the gains already achieved and improve the existing relationship between Apapa Command and the Nigerian Navy within this axis.\u201d On collaboration, he noted that modern border management requires agencies to work in tandem, adding: \u201cWhile Customs is known for trade facilitation and revenue generation, we also perform critical security functions. To achieve this mandate, we must collaborate with the military, the mother of security.\u201d On innovation, he added: \u201cInnovation is doing things differently to achieve better results and strengthening inter-agency cooperation is part of that approach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He appreciated the Navy for securing Nigeria\u2019s waters, stating: \u201cNo vessel can come into the country without safe waters. We commend you for keeping the maritime environment secure.\u201d He also solicited sustained support along the Apapa port corridor to ensure seamless cargo movement.<\/p>\n<p>In his response, Rear Admiral Mustapha acknowledged the longstanding partnership between both agencies, emphasizing: \u201cPort security is about inter-agency and coordination. Without security, there is no development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He commended the Service under CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for its performance, noting: \u201cThe Customs has done exceptionally well in blocking revenue leakages and surpassing national revenue targets.
