***As Rector, PHILIP OKWUASHI Assures of Quality Maritime Transport Education

The Certified Institute of Shipping Nigeria, CISN has matriculated over 1,369 new students into the great maritime institute in a ceremony that was attended by the who is who in the maritime shipping.
At the National Innovative Diploma in Marine Engineering Technology, the institute admitted 229 cadets, for National Innovative Diploma in Shipping Management, 593 students were recorded while those who sought admission and were given for National Innovative Diploma in Security Management and Technology 305. For those in Management courses in Higher National Diploma were 63 among other in other disciplines.
This was disclosed by the new Rector of the institute, Mr. Okwuashi Philip at the matriculation ceremony, where he (the rector) promised the parents as well as the cadets themselves that the institute would do everything possible to give the new students quality maritime education.
The Rector of the institute, Mr. Okwuashi Ifeanyi Philip fcis stated this while making his welcome address at the 24th Matriculation Ceremony of the institute held on the February 9, 2023 at the Princesses (Dr.) Vicky Haastrup Multipurpose Auditorium, CISN, Magbon, Badagry Expressway Lagos.
The programme which started at about 10 am on Thursday, saw many dignitaries mostly from the maritime shipping sector as well as the parents and gaudians of the cadets, who came in their thousands to cheer their wards up including academia and other students and well wishers.
According to the rector, at CISN, we are committed to giving quality Maritime Transport Education to our students so that they can get acquainted to the current industry and world’s best practices, associated to their fields of disciplines.
Mr. Okwuashi told the audience that the institute is planning and would have a lot in package for the cadets in this 2023 academic session.
“In 2023, we plan to take it a notch forward by initiating more seminars and opportunities for learning and development beyond our traditional academic curriculum. By adopting this method of learning, we can’t be left behind, but only put our students ahead to complete even better in the labour market. For those who are graduates from other fields/disciplines and wish to partake in the benefits of Maritime Transportation Education, both individuals and organisation staff can apply for our yearly batches of the Graduate Induction Training Programme’.
The rector further charged the students and cadets of this 20222/2223 academic session to be law abiding and to take up the challenges that would be thrown at them and also justify the enormous resources their sponsors and parents are investing on them, to give them a better future.
He thereafter admitted the new students into the instruction after their oath of allegiances to school rules and regulations.
“By the power invested on me by the Board of Trustees of the Institute, I hereby admit all of you (the students and cadets) listed here in this programme booklet and other approved documents of CISN matriculating legitimate students of the college”.
The highlights of the event were the various parades and display of combatant exercises carried out by the cadets and presentation of throuphes to students who performed excellently in different extra curriculum exercises in the school.
